Put your turbos away, Welsh summer time is here. Every Wednesday night the club meets at Glaslyn Leisure Centre in Porthmadog 6.30pm
This is a high paced session designed to improve group riding skills and fitness levels. We usually use the relatively quiet loop around Llanfrothen, Nantmor and Prenteg which is fairly flat with a few bumps for a quick blast. The speed gets ramped up gradually so hang on for as long as you can and if you do get dropped you’re never too far from home. Out from Porthmadog, 3 laps and back to Port makes about 30 miles and takes and hour and half or so.
Riding in a group means you can shelter in the slipstream of other riders and achieve higher speeds. Stronger riders do more of the work by doing longer turns on the front, if you’re not as strong or unsure of your fitness level then only do a short turn on the front so you don’t blow up and can stay in the group longer and enjoy the session more.
Last year these sessions we’re popular and we always had some good fun. Riders saw some big fitness gains too, Dave started the year getting dropped early on and by the end of the year he was going on crazy solo attacks. On the third lap we often let the group break up and see who can get away.and have a laugh.
We also have plans for a more leisurely paced ride that will meet on Wednesdays, same time, same place. Everyone welcome, come along.
